Inspired by the artwork he saw in these cities, Shorten graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in printmaking. His practice has now focused on painting for many years, and he is known for his figurative and metaphorical works. Shorten has exhibited locally and nationally in many galleries, museums, art centers, and private shows.
