Eugene Watanabe Biography
Eugene Watanabe is the Executive Director and String Area Chair of Gifted Music School, which he co-founded with his wife, Dr. Vera Oussetskaia-Watanabe. Since its founding, the school has grown from 35 to over 750 students with a faculty of 55 top-level artists. A nationally recognized music educator, Watanabe’s students have been accepted to prestigious institutions such as Juilliard, Colburn, Yale, and NEC, and have gone on to successful careers as soloists, orchestral musicians, and educators. He is a celebrated performer on both violin and piano, having appeared with major ensembles including the Moscow State Symphony and Utah Symphony, and has earned numerous awards including the Governor’s Mansion Artist Award. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Watanabe was the first to earn dual degrees in piano and violin and is a proud Steinway Artist.
