Monte Belnap Biography
Monte Belknap is a world-class violinist and master teacher known for his rich tone, virtuosic performances, and passion for musical excellence. A winner of the International Starling Violin Competition at the Aspen Music Festival, he has performed as a soloist, concertmaster, and chamber musician in prestigious venues around the world. His artistry is featured in acclaimed film, television, and video game soundtracks, as well as on recordings of the complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas and premiere works like Homage to a Son by Steve Lindeman. He has shared the stage with renowned artists including Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Menahem Pressler, and Miriam Fried.
A dedicated educator, Monte has taught violin at Brigham Young University’s School of Music for over two decades. Named Studio Teacher of the Year by the American String Teachers Association of Utah, his students have won national competitions and perform with major ensembles worldwide. He also serves on the faculty of Summerfest and Institute at BYU, Lutheran Summer Music Festival, and the Oracle Chamber Music Festival, and is a frequent guest artist in international festivals. Trained by legendary pedagogues including Dorothy DeLay and Miriam Fried, Monte continues to inspire the next generation of musicians through performance, mentorship, and innovation.
