This unique mixed-media piece by Conservatory pianist Ori Hullinger reflects her personal connection to music and its emotional impact. Aged, coffee-stained sheet music—featuring pieces that hold personal meaning—are burned at the edges and layered onto canvas. A transparent wash of color forms the backdrop, inspired by a sunset she witnessed with friends from GMS, while thick layers of paint create the texture of clouds.
Ori shares: “This piece was inspired by my own experience with music and the effect it has on me personally. My reference for the background was a beautiful sunset I saw with some of my good friends at GMS up on a hill at a park.”
Ori’s experimental painting style captures the warmth, depth, and memory of that moment, blending visual art with musical meaning.
